A Spelling or Vocabulary Sentence Rubric for students or teachers
A rubric to score 5 sentences. It can be a resource for the teacher and a teaching tool for students too. They have a visual of everything they need to make it a good sentence and can use it as a checklist as well. A fun way to get them using and understanding rubrics is to have them grade other students papers so they get to be the "teacher." It makes them aware of good sentence writing. It also has a place you can write in the percentage. This makes them aware of the grading scale.

The Fanciest Lady (change the y to an i)
This short story is a decodable text featuring words that end in y where suffixes have been attached so students can see examples of the rules for changing the y to an i when y follows a consonant and the suffix begins with a vowel (excluding -ing). It also is geared toward older learners and uses higher level vocabulary.

This packet was created to be reproduced for student homework on a weekly basis. It is most easily used with word study or spelling lists that follow different patterns and can be sorted into categories. The packet contains a picture dictionary, sentences, Sort-Alphabetize-Write, and a practice test.

You can use this short sentences to make dictations in class. The students can tell the sentence to another one. In groups, you can give the sentence to one group and make one student say and the other write. When they finish, they can change the sentence with another group.
