I created a list of 85 5-phoneme words to use with my older speech therapy students for segmenting and blending goals. Parents have also expressed the desire to have visuals with homework practice so this is a handy list for them as well.

Of Mice and Men Daily Grammar and Spelling Fix It with Analysis

These are DO NOW activities to use as a bell ringer to the start of class. It gets students editing and proofreading while also staying on topic with the text. The quotes come directly from the text. The Fanciest Lady (change the y to an i)
This short story is a decodable text featuring words that end in y where suffixes have been attached so students can see examples of the rules for changing the y to an i when y follows a consonant and the suffix begins with a vowel (excluding -ing). It also is geared toward older learners and uses higher level vocabulary.

Running dictations level 1
You can use this short sentences to make dictations in class. The students can tell the sentence to another one. In groups, you can give the sentence to one group and make one student say and the other write. When they finish, they can change the sentence with another group. Fun Spelling- Tic Tac Toe Contract for all types of Words
This spelling contract is set up in a tic-tac-toe fashion. It allows students to choose which activity best suits their learning style, while at the same time accomplishing the purpose of having students practice their spelling words. It is also designed so that regardless of which sequence they choose, there will always be one activity that is easy, one that is medium-difficulty, and one that is higher level thinking.
