TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I first began my education journey in early 2013 tutoring teenagers in English weekly, whilst completing my Masters in secondary teaching. I have taught primary-aged students in small groups as well, though most of my resources are especially suitable for teenagers. I am now currently teaching high school English full-time. I have taught all year levels of English, but at the moment I work especially as a middle school and senior English teacher. I also have experience teaching Media and Film Studies. I greatly enjoy crafting resources that challenge learners and give them opportunities for success in their learning.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My resources are often very literacy-based. I believe if students can express themselves clearly and confidently, this can really help them to meet their potential. My products also often help students to develop reading comprehension and analysis skills, whether that be for films or written texts. I thoroughly enjoy helping students spot the finer details of whatever it is they are studying whilst connecting their learning to their own individual experiences. I hope that many of my resources can also be used by teachers as a springboard for in-depth class discussions.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a bachelor in film studies and a masters degree in teaching. This is in combination with certificates in a range of subjects, such as history, literature and education. I love to keep learning!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My store name is ‘English Elf’. Picture in your mind a happy little elf dropping off resources just when you need them! I also realise if you say the name really quickly it sounds like ‘English Shelf’ - if this works for you then by all means say it like that. I must be an English teacher for feeling the need to clarify…:’D
