I began teaching eighth grade English Language Arts in 2011 in Massachusetts. I love the creativity being a teacher allows and I am constantly revamping my lesson plans and materials so as to better teach my students. Over the past several years, I have become passionate about mentoring and helping new teachers gain confidence in their craft. I have mentored both first year and student teachers and I love how it also positively affects my own practice. As owner of Language Arts Excellence, TPT has been such a wonderful source of intellectual stimulation for me and has brought my teaching to an entirely new level.
I strive to create a classroom atmosphere in which each and every student feels valued and work every day to foster within them a lifelong love of literature and learning in general. Students should leave my classroom at the end of year as stronger and more confident communicators both orally and in their writing.
Yet to be added
I graduated from Union College with a bachelor's degree in English and minor in psychology and completed my master’s degree from Boston University in secondary English Education. I continue to further my education in teaching so as to become the best and most effective teacher I can be for my students.
Prior to teaching, I worked as an educational travel consultant educational where I coordinated tours for teachers brave enough to journey with their students to other countries around the world. In my spare time, I enjoy running, barre, skiing in Vermont, swimming on the Cape, and of course, reading as much as I can!
