I have listed six of the many short labs we do in my Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 classes. These labs take little or no set up with only a few basic materials. Systems of Equations
This activity applies a real life example of systems of equations. It proposes the question "Which restaurant would you eat at?". Students are given information about two different restaurants. They need to make predictions, write 2 linear equations, graph the linear equations, state the point of intersection (and explain what the intersection means), verify algebraically the point of intersection, and finally decide which restaurant they would eat at using all of the data from the activity.

Great to help students line up their numbers when needing to keep them in a place value. I use it for multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, place value and in a few other applications. It is especially effective with students with spacial learning challenges because it forces them keep their numbers lined up. Blank Coordinate Planes (10x10)
Attached are blank graphs that I used in class with students. I printed them on cardstock, front and back. The students wrote their name on them and inserted them into plastic sleeve protectors. They could then use them in place of whiteboards for graphing practice.
