Students must cooperatively work as a team to build the tallest spaghetti towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows. During the planning phase, students are not allowed to speak. This allows students the chance to see the importance of communicating graphically. This project also allows students to see the importance of failures in engineering, as using marshmallows makes this project very complicated. Great opening activity to teach teamwork.
