The Nutcracker: A Craft-ivity
Students love the story of the Nutcracker. Included in this document is a re-telling of the story and a fun project! Students color and cut out a nutcracker doll, then glue him to an empty paper towel roll for a 3D nutcracker of their very own. This can easily be done in a 20 to 30-minute time period in school, but it is fun to give this as a take-home project so that students can use additional materials (sequins, beads, feathers, etc.) and bring back for a colorful display at school!

Color Value Scale Ice Cream Cone
This project is all about color mixing! Students learned that in art, value is the lightness or darkness of a color. Each student chooses a hue, a pure color to begin an ice cream value scale (see worksheet below). They add black to the hue to make shades and white to make tints.
