This is a project for students to learn about the election and election process. Students will be required to put together a portfolio of all the information and will need access to computers. This is great to use for an election or just to teach kids about the election process.

Students will get a chance to utilize their persuasive talents and creative ones too in trying to persuade students to vote for the candidate of their choice. They will design a poster as well as 6 political buttons. This could be done prior to the upcoming presidential election as well as before any elections to come. This is a webquest I came up with and designed for use in my 5th grade class for the current election. However, the webquest itself can be made to fit any election for any year. The website provided is one by Scholastic and all of the answers the students need will be on this site. This year in particular, with the presidential race, this was really great. However, there are primaries and local races all the time. This pushes students to understand propaganda, advertising, and political issues. We talk in length about ads being about getting voters and less about real reasons to vote. Students use this knowledge to create their own political poster. It went really well for us.

Election Ballot Box Index Card File
This activity consists of a pattern to create a 2 dimensional "ballot box" pocket folder that will be used to store index cards, as well as a set of questions/labels for the index cards.
