Project - Graphing Parent Functions: Stained Glass Window
Students must create and graph ten different functions with transformations based on the following parent functions - linear, quadratic, absolute value. Restrictions on transformations are required. Rational Expressions Website Design
This is a project I do with my students at the end of their Rational Expressions unit. I have them create a website through wix.com that explains how to simplify, multiply, divide, add, and subtract rational expressions.

Roller Coaster Design - Transformations of Functions
I created this project for my IB Approaches and Analysis Course. This is also useful for Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus courses. All three courses heavily use transformations of functions and can apply the parent functions to this course. This 13 page document with calendar and table of contents took me at least 12 days to complete from beginning to end, but it was worth it for the students to engage in meaningful conversations.

This is a great end of year research project for any math course at a multitude of grade levels! From start to end of presentations, this project took me two weeks to complete - I give specific dates for each goal and give a grade for completion of each goal. The points I gave are listed on the information sheet. I created this in Word and it can be edited to fit your classroom and your needs.
