Tessellation NOTES and activity with grading rubric
Here is a word document with notes and picture example of what a tessellation is. Students like the pictures and it helps for them to see what they are.
There are also directions for students to make their own tessellation on a note card. I will normally give them a big white construction paper to draw their tessellation on and then they have to color the entire paper. It can be basic or as detailed as they would like.
There is also a grading rubric I use to grade the tessellation.

Similarity Performance Task - Alternative Assessment
This was a performance task I gave to my geometry students after our unit on Similarity. *It could be used at multiple grade levels* It presents a real life scenario and requires students to use their knowledge of similarity to find lengths, perimeters, areas and volumes of similar figures. The task guides students to think of multiple solutions to the same problem and make conjectures about volumes of similar figures.

I have created a lesson where the students must incorporate all of the geometry shapes into a real life drawing!! Crossing over a little art with Math. Geometry Kite Building Instructions and Rubric
This rubric gives the instructions for building a kite in a high school geometry class.
Part 1: Research and Design. Part 2: Building the kite. Part 3: Flying the kite.
Project grade is based on scale drawing of kite, list of materials used, calculations of dimensions and area, short paper on construction of kite, and how well the kite flies.
My students greatly enjoyed this project and it was a nice break from regular learning.
