Middle School Lab Report Template

This template is so easy to use! It has been super helpful in scaffolding for my middle school students to get them to the stage of writing a full lab report in high school. I used to NEVER grade lab reports! They were always handed in on messy paper (or not at all!) and I always had to look from the rubric to the report, it was crazy! So I just gave up. Then...I made this template. It is so easy to use. I just grade each section of the lab report with the rubrics for each component! Serious

Rubric: BEFORE Your Experiment -- Plan and Present Your Science Fair Research!

I've been taking my students to a university science fair for years now. Every year my students struggle with the university's research plan requirements that are quite rigorous. When I began to require students to present their research plans to the class, I eliminated so much stress and extra work because now they get approved on the first round! I've created a rubric that does not evaluate their oral presentation skills, but helps them truly understand what is expected of them to be approve

Separation of Mixtures Lab & Rubric

In this lab students devise their own unique strategies to separate a mixture of water, methanol, sand, salt, iron and copper. Each component of the mixture should be analyzed quantitatively for its mass, percent composition as well as percent error as compared to the actual value. (note: the teacher or instructor needs to create the stock samples and must know the actual value of each component in the mixture). I would recommend using between 40 - 130 grams of water, 3 - 8 grams methanol, 2
