There are 10 stations for students go to during a class period. I would suggest 7 to 8 minutes be allotted for each station. The stations each include at least one word problem. Questions at the stations include solving linear equations by graphing, elimination, and substitution, determining which method is best for solving a given system, finding errors when solving a system, and graphing systems of linear inequalities.

This is a great way to end the unit over exponential application and logarithmic application. The students create their own real world situation based around growth/decay data points you assign to them. The download includes *Teacher instructions, data points with solutions *Handout to explain the project to students including point breakdown *A point breakdown for the teacher to use when grading Great for high preforming Alg 2 PreAP students or all Precal PreAP students.

Inspired by NPR's Radio Lab "Poop Train" podcast. Perfect for project-based learning. A great project for middle school or high school science classes. Students are provided a variety of "common waste" to research. They are then prompted to share what they found in multiple ways. This project can be incorporated into units of study for sustainability, environmental issues, living environment, Earth Day, and more. Many ITSE standards are incorporated as students are prompted to research and prese

Slope Word problems - Saving money

I hate teaching slope just as it is, if we can't model real-world situations with it, then its useless, this problem set is best for when your class understands slope and solving for points, and the equation well, and now needs a bridge to using the concepts for real-life. They are repetitive at first to give my students confidence, then I start changing the wording to make them think more. Then I start to change the units that the question is asking in so they have one more step to solving.

This is a common core "type" of performance task looking at both exponential functions and linear functions when it comes to population growth. It asks numerous reasoning questions with data and math questions in between. Students are asked to come up with a linear model in slope intercept form looking at a population in 1980 and then again in 2000. It also asks students to come up with an exponential model using that same data. The students will also need to graph (on a separate sheet of pa

Great learning experience for students! I developed lesson from Dan Meyers Stacking Cups task. However, I wanted to make the activity a little more relatable/relevant to students. I posed the question of how many cups it would take to equal my height (teacher). I allowed them individual time to think and then let them give me initial thoughts. I then told them my height, 6 cups, ruler, and whiteboards while I stood on top of a desk for a few minutes. The mathematical conversations arising from e

Well, That's Life is a game I made that attempts to capture the true anxiety of heading into payday. The cards that students draw are silly but realistic scenarios that they are absolutely going to be faced with once they start earning a paycheck. This document is what the student needs to play the game. It has a check register and a set of instructions for the students to hold on to. The object is that after ten rounds, students want to have a positive balance in their register. There are cards
