Symbols for the Community -Giving Directions
Print out these symbols and either laminate or slide into sheet protectors. If your school allows, Tape these "places" up all over the school. Give students directions to the "Firestation" or the "Bank". You can even give your hallways street signs and let your students make cars out of cardboard boxes (this was my HS's favorite part).

First Week Acivity
This page should be used during the first or second week of ASL as a review/practice activity. Students are asked to get into partners and take turns pointing at letters, words, and numbers. All of the words in the grid should be finger spelled and they are also all lexicalized finger spelled words which makes this more authentic. Vocab words and phrases covered in the first week or two are included under the activity to give students something to look at and practice.
