Math Student Rubric (Self-Assessment)

This has been a highly valuable and beneficial self-assessing tool in my classroom. I choose one problem to focus on where students must show how he/ she solves it. Then I have students self-assess his/ her work using this rubric. Next, I partner each student up with a partner. In a different color, the partner assesses the work. This was a highly reflective process for my students. I would also pull small groups based on these results. This rubric was based off an idea from the book Seven

This worksheet can be used for any of the four main coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter). The purpose is to familiarize children with the characteristics of each coin to help them more easily identify the coins. When I did this sheet with my students, I divided the class into four groups- one for each coin. The students researched the president on the coin, wrote facts on post-it notes, stuck the notes to a poster & decorated the poster, and then presented the coin to the class. Every studen

I created this rubric for my class to assess their demonstration of knowledge, collaboratively, after a field trip. The way I set it up gives me the ability to not only grade groups of students but to give individual students the credit that is due to them. This prevents students from either dominating or slacking, as they each are accountable for their own demonstration of knowledge and contribution to the presentation. There is also room for extra credit if students went above and beyond.I bel

This checklist works great to teach students how to submit only their best work. I would recommend copying this checklist front and back onto card stock, cutting it down the middle, and laminating. My students used dry erase markers to use the checklist when submitting classwork. One side is for selected response type questions, while the other side is for constructed response type questions. This is a simple way to make sure your students are checking over their work before turning it in.
