Designs for Aquatank - Performance Task/Project for Volume and Surface Area
This project allows students to demonstrate their understanding of volume and surface area of three dimensional figures. It gives students the opportunity to directly apply their knowledge and understanding of geometrical objects in a real world situation.
Students will put themselves in the shoes of engineers at Aquatank, an imaginary aquarium company. Students will receive the request of customers to design tanks with specified volume and unique characteristics that meet their needs and wants

Pythagorean Theorem Instagram Project
***This project was NOT my idea, but compiled by ideas that various teachers have posted online!!!!!!!***Rather than test my students on Pythagorean Theorem, I decided that students can use something they know all about - Instagram - to showcase their understanding.Suggestion for extending: Include a requirement for students to plot their right triangle on a coordinate plane and prove the distance formula!Once students have submitted their projects, make a wall to display Pythagoras' posts!
Gifted Education Math Game Design Project Rubric
I designed this rubric to assess my gifted math students as they chose from a project menu to create a game to practice geometry standards.
Teachers can use this rubric to assess a math game designed by their student(s) surrounding any math topic.

Transformation Project
Students work individually or with a partner to create their own rigid figure on a 4-quadrant grid. They will reflect it, translate it, and rotate it across the coordinate plane. Students will have fun expressing their creative side while applying the rules for transformations.
Surface Area/ Volume Project
Students have the ability to pick one of the 6 choices to complete their project on surface area and volume.
Great summative assessment for the end of the unit.

Classifying Two-Dimensional Shapes by Their Angles - Small Group Activity
This is a fun small-group activity (based on Common Core Standards) where students work together to sort shapes by their types of angles and design a Venn diagram to display their findings. A scoring guide is included (for the group to score themselves). A student reflection is also included. This is a perfect activity to do once students have learned how to use a protractor and a great precursor to a similar Extended Response Question (Or Open Response)activity that I will also be posting.
Geometry Popcorn Project - Surface Area and Volume
Students explore the relationship between surface area and volume by creating popcorn containers using only one sheet of paper. This is a fun and delicious way for students to creatively practice solving for surface area and volume. This comes with instructions, a space for students to show work, and an IB consistent rubric.

Geometry Kite Building Instructions and Rubric
This rubric gives the instructions for building a kite in a high school geometry class.
Part 1: Research and Design. Part 2: Building the kite. Part 3: Flying the kite.
Project grade is based on scale drawing of kite, list of materials used, calculations of dimensions and area, short paper on construction of kite, and how well the kite flies.

Get Creative with Polynomials
Connect with your students and get to know them as individuals. In this project, students use their imaginations to design a building or area (e.g., park, zoo habitat, space station, museum, sports complex) that interests them. Re-Design a Candy Box
This project was used for 7th grade 3-d Geometry unit. It was written in tandem with our Art teachers.Students need to be provided with miniature pieces of candy to complete this project. Any type of candy can work, and the bigger the variety makes for a more engaging class. Students can work individually or in groups to determine the most accurate measure of the candy's surface area and volume. They must then decide which 3-d shape to create as a box that could hold the most amount of candy.

An intro activity for students to begin discovering the theorems that are used in proving triangles congruent. This activity also involves students to present material to their classmates.
