Short Story Creative Project and Rubric
This creative project assignment was designed for a ninth grade English class, but could be adapted to a middle school ELA class as well. Students are required to choose an object of significance from a short story read and discussed in class (a list is provided on the assignment sheet, but can be edited). Cinderella Compare/Contrast Dodecahedron Project
Students are to read several versions of Cinderella (from a variety of cultures) and choose two stories to compare and contrast. Students then construct a dodecahedron by completing a writing task on each of the twelve faces. The project addresses comparing, contrasting, summarizing and point of view.
