This project is used at the end of our unit on The Giver, but can be used after any novel study on either Utopias or Dystopias. Students research 2 utopian experiments from history, then design their own utopia community and present. After their presentation they must write a 2 paragraph reflection on how their utopia could become a dystopia.

This is the rubric I use for scoring personal narratives. I hated the ones with all the adjectives that are only slightly different than each other.
