Created by
Teaching "Tails"
This literacy with music integrated lesson takes around 45 minutes to complete. This is an extension of previous learning about rhythm, beat, and music tempo. The lesson has students singing to the Aesop’s fable: The Tortoise and the Hare's characters according to how fast or slow they are going. This is a great literacy lesson that can incorporate music into your classroom as well as go over morals and sayings such as slow and steady wins the race. The Manners Song and Skits: Learning to use Good Manners is a wonderful opportunity for your students to sing a song using the vocabulary which accompanies good manners; and to use this vocabulary by playing the roles of students with proper manners in the three given skits. **I added a bunch of new songs in 2017!**I created this collection of popular and relevant Christian inspirational songs and discussion questions to get my students thinking more deeply about their Christian faith. This is a year-long guide designed to do one song per week, but there are many more songs to choose from so that you can fit them to your own teaching needs. My students absolutely LOVED "Song Study" each week and wrote at the end of the year that it was their favorite activity. Here'

Attention Getting Cheers! You can motivate students to pay attention and they won't even realize it. No need to put names on the board with simple redirection. Hey, Hey...What DO YOU SAY? Tired of the same old boring Clap, Clap, Clap...to gain student attention? Kids LOVE these cheers and chants and will stop on a dime to listen to you. Observers will think you are a genius. :) Included is a variety of cheers by theme, or need. These are classroom tested, and only the children

Manners Are Magic

With elementary children moving around the school for specialized classes, getting to a door can sometimes be disruptive. This short lesson by Patricia Kienzle has already proven itself very useful. It is a great management tool to use at the beginning of a new schoolyear. After discussing what polite adults do when a line is behind them at a door, children practice good manners while singing a song to the tune of London Bridges. If you have a toy magic wand, it is a great opportunity to u

Mystery Walker Poster

This is a variation of a mystery walker poster. I have it laminated and hanging right by the door, along with a set of popsicle sticks with each student's name. Whenever we line up to leave the classroom I pull a stick, but keep the name to myself. I watch that student while they are in line. When we return to the classroom if that student followed directions and acted appropriately in line then the class earns a link. Our class links are attached to a bulletin board and when the links touc

Character Education Song

This is a song that we have used to promote Character Education. This fun tune is based on "A Spoonful of Sugar..." from Mary Poppins. We sang this song during a Character Education assembly and it had all of the students singing along. We also sang this song on the morning announcements to promote having good character!

This is a song I wrote the night my son was born. It is sung to the tune "Frere Jacques". It is a simple, comforting song, that incorporates the child's name as well as the names of those who love him/her so much! Please note: the words "love" and "baby" are used in this song. If these are not appropriate words to use/sing where you work, please do not buy this.

This chant is how I begin class everyday. Not only is it a great way for the kids to get motivated for class (and teach them to spell the word achievement), but it's a great procedure for beginning a class. We pat, pat (our desks), and clap, clap (our hands) in rhythm through the chant. The kids love it and so do I. It's also a great way to raise motivation before a test or big assessment, as well!

Winners are Not Bullies

This is a song written to the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. It is a song that explains what a bully is and that winners are not bullies. We sing this song at our school weekly, substituting our mascot (Broncos) in place of winners, thus becoming Broncos are not Bullies. You could do that for your school mascot also. This song is fun to sing and promotes respect.

Kindergarten Smile song

This song is sung to the tune of the Brownie song from Girl Scouts. I teach it to kindergarten students on the first day of school to create a sense of class community and identity as a kindergartener. I also send a hard copy home with students so they can sing and share the song with their families. You could easily adapt the song for preschool or any other grade level.

I have just put them together from the PATHS manual. I am not the writer of any of the songs and tried to credit individual authors on the card themselves, but the rest are by channing-bete publishing and for use in the PATHS program. This is my first document uploaded to TPT, so anything to help
