Cover It! GarageBand Assignment
This is an assignment I developed for my grade 6-8 students. It requires them to have basic knowledge of the GarageBand program (I used iPads), as they will be choosing a song of their choice to cover. This assignment is designed to be completed in partners, and took my guys roughly one month, having two, 40 minute periods per week.

Boom Pipes Recipe - Instructions for Making Home-made Bass Set
Boom pipes are a novel yet musical addition to my Orff instruments (substituting for bass bars) as well as to my Boomwhackers and home-made instrumentarium. Students (of all ages) LOVE these!

SONG PARODY PROJECT
This is a great group project option! It is so fun to see what your students come up with and can be used multiple times throughout the year. You can guide your students to base it on a specific theme, holiday, or whatever works best for students! This project can take around 3-5 days to complete. If you have a group that finishes faster, try having them memorize their lyrics to take it to the next level. You can even make it a competition between all the groups for the best performance!

Concert Makeup Assignment
When a concert is required, but students do not attend, there must be an assignment to makeup those missing grades. This particular assigment gives students two choices, one of which involves attending a separate concert, and another research project. Both require 500 word essays.
