"Me By The Numbers" Project (getting to know you: math related)
This is a project used to get to know your students! Students must come up with 15 numbers that relate to them and pictures to go along with these numbers. Students will then create a poster to represent themselves in numbers.

Checkbook Register (Adding Integers / Finance)

Algebra Project - Classifying Real Numbers [FOLLOWER FREEBIE]
This is a great project to help students connect the concept of classifying real numbers with numbers found throughout society. I used it this year and my kiddos absolutely loved it. You can use it as a contest, project, or alternative assessment. Have fun!

Maths Inquiry Project - My House of Maths
In this Inquiry Project, students use the Web 2.0 tool Floor Planner to design and build a house. As part of of building the need to calculate the varying costs; floor coverings, windows, kitchen, bathroom, landscaping, as well as pre building costs. The use the costings guide embedded in the project.
As an extension, students research the costs associated with furnishing their home.
Students can use one of the budgets included in the project outline or create their very own.

Integers Math Word Problem Project
With this project, students create a word problem that can demonstrate their learning by symbolically/pictorially represent the multiplication and division of positive and negative integers. Their level of word problem that they form is a reflection of their understanding of the concept. This could also be used as a final assessment or a project to replace an existing assessment.

Skittles Proportion Lab SPANISH COPY
***SPANISH COPY. Students are to be provided a bag of skittles. They are going to use proportions and ratios to determine if there are the same number/ratio of each color in all different sized bags.
I had students work in groups of 2 for this activity. Within the activity I broke it up into three different sections; a pre-lab, lab, and post-lab portion. Students make initial guesses/hypothesis, test out their theory, use proportions and ratios to analyze their results and graph data.
