Short Story Creative Project and Rubric
This creative project assignment was designed for a ninth grade English class, but could be adapted to a middle school ELA class as well. Students are required to choose an object of significance from a short story read and discussed in class (a list is provided on the assignment sheet, but can be edited). They must use basic materials at home to recreate the object, using textual evidence as a guide. Two different rubrics are included for grading flexibility.

"This is Water" by David Foster Wallace- Rhetorical Analysis Exercise
I used this assignment as a review of rhetorical strategies. Using "This is Water," a commencement speech by David Foster Wallace, students selected various passages to explore.
