OREO COOKIE PHASES OF THE MOON FOOD LAB

Created by

A popular lab, with a competitive twist! Educators, your students will have tons of fun learning/reviewing the phases of the moon with this engaging activity. Instead of simply cutting the cream out of each cookie, students will be tasked with a challenge (against their peers) for each of the 8 phases of the moon. I've also included a student version of the slides so that they can insert a photo of each phase they create. Why? Well, we all know that those cookies will not last very long at the e

A generic take-home note with instructions is included, as well as pictures. You'll be amazed how awesome they turn out. I did it with 3rd graders and the rest of the school was very impressed. Solar System Poster Project with E-Z Grade Scoring

This is a simple one page description of a Solar System Poster project that students could do in class, but is simple enough to be done as a home project. A very simple scoring system is described on the sheet. All you need to do is make a copy for each student, go over the sheet briefly, and you have an instant project for the classroom or to take home. When I have done the project as classwork in the past, I have printed out copies of facts from each planet. A great website is given on the

Sunrise / Sunset -- Trigonometry Project

This project needs to be assigned / completed before you teach them how to graph the sine and cosine functions. It can be used for everyone, even middle school students (though they wouldn’t be doing it for the sine / cosine aspect). Maybe I’m “old-school”, but I like to have my students do the first part of this project without any access to the Internet. The second part of the project requires them to research, so I would allow them to do that online. This project is free and will alway

The students follow instructions to make the video. My students use iphones and edit them on iMovie, some find free video editors, tik tok can be used to edit videos, etc. I give my students 2-3 full days to do the video in class and then we watch them together.
