Rubric for Assessing Recorder
This rubric gives you a simple, yet precise way to assess your recorder students. It has seven areas to assess including pitch, rhythm, intonation, articulation, posture, fingering and style. I made this packet as a companion to the 5-Disc DVD-series "Instrumental Classmates" by Warner Brothers (ISBN: 0-7579-2256-2). It follows along with the DVD and is a great listening guide. This offers an optional 100 point grading sheet checklist that includes points from the instrument family picture pages (picture pages not included). Chrome Music Lab Songmaker Assignment
This editable file can be used in class or assigned for remote learning in google classroom. Students are instructed to create their own song using the Songmaker game in Chrome Music Lab. There are written directions with pictures so that students in elementary and middle school can easily follow. You can have students submit their work through google classroom and directions are included for students. This is a fun activity to share with the class too when everyone's project is complete.

Music Interactive Notebook Pages - Dynamics, Tempos, Articulations
I use these pages in my students' interactive notebooks. Often, when listening to a piece, the students are able to use these as a reference.
Another way to use these is to print them out, laminate them, cut them up, and put them in a ziplock baggie. As students listen to a piece, they can select terms that they feel describe the piece.
Students can also quiz each other, such as asking a partner to say the Italian word for quiet (piano) or ask for the definition of a word.

The Water Cycle Song
In order to help my kindergarten students remember the components of the water cycle, I have made up a song which identifies the four stages of the cycle - precipitation, accumulation, evaporation and condensation. This is sung to the familiar tune of "The Wheels On the Bus". I write this up on a large chart when teaching it to the children.
