Spanish Reader's Theater--La Gallinita Roja (The Little Red Hen)

Reader's Theater is a great tool for building fluency in reading. As a bilingual educator I have found that Spanish reader's theater is a valuable tool to get Spanish language learners to practice their oral development. Although I have used these scripts in my First grade classroom, they would also work well for secondary Spanish classes. The Little Red Hen is easy to follow with its repetitive phrases and familiar storyline. This reader's theater is an excellent way for students who are lear

Teaching - The Real World Becoming a Teacher I’m going to share the real world of teaching with you. First, I’ll provide some background. When I was just a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. In fact, I conned my friends into playing school with me whenever I could, and of course, I was always the teacher. In school, English was always my favorite subject. I loved reading, writing, and grammar, so my goal of becoming a teacher became more focused – I wanted to be an English teacher at

ASL Pledge of Allegiance

While sign language encompasses the language of American Sign Language, it sometimes includes the system of Signed English. The Pledge of Allegiance can involve both. The signs themselves are conceptual, but the syntax is altered to be somewhat in sync with what is being orally presented (rather than in ASL syntax). This product presents the signs for the Pledge of Allegiance as they might be signed in conjunction and at the same time as others who verbalize the words. Added descriptions for e

This is a fun, rhyming poem that explains the eight basic parts of speech. The first line of each stanza explain what each part of speech does. The remainder of the stanza gives examples of that specific part of speech. I had to memorize it in sixth grade, and subsequently used it on grammar tests afterwards. In fact, this copy was typed from memory for a college project, and I have used it with all of my classes (elementary through junior high) for all ten years of teaching thus far.

Gustar Worksheet: Step-by-step Approach

I am very passionate about my approach to teaching GUSTAR because I believe it works. I like to break down each part of the construction so that students have a complete understanding of WHY we use GUSTAR as we do. This worksheet first asks students to fill in the blank with the missing indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, etc.), and then with the missing form of gustar (gustan or gusta). Finally, students construct sentences with GUSTAR using a given indirect object (A mi, A ella, etc.) and su
