Experience the Trail of Tears

Aztec Inca Maya Foldable
During a unit on the Aztec, Inca, and Maya civilizations, students create a foldable (folded like a brochure) that includes various information from each civilization.
The foldable is a great tool to lay out information and have students make connections between the three civilizations. It requires them to think critically about the information they received in their notes.

A great culminating report assessment for a Native American Unit in the 5th - 7th grades. It includes a report description, eight explained report components, list of Native American cultures to choose from, and a detailed rubric. Students were really able to explore a culture more in depth and I followed up with short presentations from each student that included a visual aid for their culture.
