About two-thirds of a cup of cerebrospinal fluid coats the brain and spinal column. Its primary role is to protection from injury. In this lab, students test the effectiveness of a liquid coating surrounding an object to understand the role of cerebrospinal fluid and its ability to protect the brain and spinal cord from trauma.

This is a Smart Board presentation with step-by-step picture instructions on how to make floam, which is a styrofoam-goo mixture. The consistency is like ooblek. It's made of styrofoam cups, borax, glue, water, and (optional) food coloring.
