Main Idea can be a challenging concept for students. When I teach main idea, I prompt students to ask themselves two questions about the text:
1. What is the subject? 2. What about the subject?
For my visual learners, I use a tree. The leaves, branches, etc. represent the details, while the whole tree represents the main idea.

Literary Devices Posters (6 Total)
When teaching Literary Devices, I find that providing the definition, an image and an example helps them remember the different types. These are six 8.5 x 11" pages consisting of information on Alliteration, Idioms, Personification, Onomatopoeia, Metaphor and Simile. Each has an orange border.
