Here is a small chart for students to use to learn the differences between complete and incomplete metamorphosis. There are 4 on one page for printing them small, but you can edit the document to include as many as you need or can delete the other three to just have one on the page. I have students glue these in their science journals.

Imagine you discovered a new island no one ever explored before. It does not exist on any map! You can name this island whatever you want and make its first official map or model. Use These set of Instructions for a Project Assignment with your LANDFORM Unit. I used this for my second grade class. It requires them to create an island that they discovered. They must name it according to its shape. They can get very creative with this. I have made an example of a final project: "Shark Island" in

In IB ESS, the IA can be the most intimidating long-term project a student has seen to date. This timeline has been designed to chunk this assignment into manageable pieces and requires students to estimate how much time they think each section will take. This assignment can also assist the teacher in determining when and where in-class time is given to assist students. Teachers could also choose to print this out in poster size and have students add stickers to each section when it is completed

Katie's Happy Corner presents The Important Little Cloud. It is intended to help young children understand the water cycle. Conversation among the "little drops" clarifies terms such as "evaporate" and "invisible" as they float higher until they "condense" and become a cloud. Little Cloud soon connects with other clouds that are going to "precipitate" - they explain to Little Cloud that the word means they're going to "rain." Little Cloud is afraid that if he rains, he'll disappear forever, b

Concept maps have been shown to be good tools for organizing complex information, thus students may benefit from keeping their concept maps for later use and/or posting them around their learning environment. Directions: Provide students with word lists (provided below). Ask student groups to make concept map using the word list. Indicate to students that every concept map may look different, but that it's okay-as long as the concept map makes sense.

The lessons are based around the 17 Global Goals that were created by the UN. This lesson is for them to take one of the Global Goals and 'teach' to the school about it through a bulletin board that are on the hallway walls. This was perfect for Earth Day activities later on that week.

Are you being told you have to set up a word wall for your life science class? Dreading changing it out unit by unit? A prefix-based word wall is great for all year and supports most reading initiatives at schools! Best of all, it's relevant all year long. Print this out on assorted colors (I like to use card stock), cut and laminate. Either hang as a mobile or tap to a wall. Adhesive magnets work great too for white boards!
