This is a project that is great for the intermediate grades! Students select a book to enter into a class March Madness: Battle of the Books Tournament. They will create a persuasive poster and write a persuasive essay encouraging their classmates to vote for their book.

This is a great way to start working on STAAR passages with your students after the holidays. It is a very bright idea a coworker shared with me about four years ago to start implementing STAAR simulations in the classroom. Narrative Writing Passage - Students continue writing to the prompt
The narrative writing prompt sheet gives the student a scenario they read about. It gives the student a prompt to continue the story into writing their own narrative.
