TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 2010! I started off as a Teacher's Assistant for three years. This enabled me to work closely with students of various grade levels emotional disabilities as well as special education students. My Full Time Gig: I became an English teacher in 2013, working for the NYC DOE in Brooklyn, New York. Since then, I teach 1 section of AP English language and 3 sections of inclusive general education mixed with students with IEPS, and 1 section of ENL students. I have been able to focus on English as a subject and work on meeting the needs of many different leveled and styled learners. Part Time: Starting in 2016 I was asked based on my high level NYS English Regent scores to write a Curriculum map for teachers who teach in Long Island for Nassau Boces's Summer School program. I have been writing and updating my curriculum annually, as well as traveling from school to school as a literacy coach and Curriculum Specialist. I have done this every July-August since. Additionally, in 2017 I took on the role of being an adjunct Professor at Brooklyn College. There, I teach 1 class a year in the Summer 1 semester. I teach teaching fellows how to incorporate "WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM" This entails teaching potential teachers literacy strategies that work for Math, Science, Social Studies, and more.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My goal is to help students grow in writing. ANYONE can be a good writer! Writing is like a science, if you learn the formula you can write a stellar essay!! I have 9 years of teaching 175 11th grade students and having at least 95% of them pass the NYS ENGLISH Regent every year. I also teach teachers at Brooklyn College and am a liason for summer school teachers who teach the English Regent in Long Island, New York.
