Nationalism Project: Create your own country.
I use this project for my Nationalism unit. In the unit the students learn about the unification of Italy and Germany. As they create their country and write their nations history, they are instructed to follow the same basic historical foundation as either Italy or Germany. Wonderful document for recording family facts and memories. This is a culture assignment that will be treasured for who knows how long. I hand out as extra credit, but I strongly encourage their use... where else will this information ever be captured? Students just ask questions of parents and grandparents. Google Earth Scavenger Hunt
This is a fairly straightforward Scavenger Hunt to use with Google Earth. Students simply type in the coordinates and record their findings.
