September 11th Spanish Reading, Numbers, and Cognates Activity
I use this in Spanish 1 classes on September 11th. Students read in Spanish about what occurred, paying close attention to cognates and numbers.
I photocopy the two pages front-to-back. We read it aloud as a class, circling the cognates as we go. Afterwards students fill in the back to review numbers and cognates.

They study the life of this artist, write a biography, choose a song, and find a grammatical structure that they want us to focus on. Students loved this and I did too since it introduced me to songs that interested the students. It was definitely the project of the year for my 9th graders!
