I created this engaging student project to help keep my students focused now that all of the state testing is completed and our ELAR curriculum is coming to an end. This project is a creative writing assignment. Students are designing their own school using a "School Handbook" template. I also attached my cover page and rubric that I gave my students to u

All About Me Time Capsule is the perfect way to begin and end the school year. On the first day of school, have your students complete the “Beginning of Year” column. When everyone is done, let volunteer students share their answers for each “Favorite.” Then, collect the Time Capsules, and keep them all year. If you have new students enter your class in the middle of the school year, be sure to have them complete a Time Capsule on the day they enter. You don’t want any of your students left

I use this form with my students to help me decide on Superlatives for the end of the year. It is really fun and encouraging to give each kid an award for their effort during the school year. I've noticed that many times students will come up with more clever rewards than I could myself!

Students will have to choose a car to take on a road trip with their friends then complete a series of questions relating to their trip. My students have done this project for the last three years and really enjoy it each year! Modifications can be made from year to year as gas, cars, and other costs change with very little effort. Students can do with or without a calculator at the teachers discretion and/or student ability.

I used this at the end of the year (or sometimes semester, depending on the course I was teaching) to get feedback from my students on how they thought I was doing. It was SO helpful and I really took their feedback to heart to help me grow. It's easily editable so that you can use it for any grade/subject area.

Then students spend time switching papers and signing each other's sheets to end the year. When done, I laminated my students' so they had it as a keepsake from the year. High School Edition! Have your students write about the specific course you teach and give advice to incoming students. Read them during the 1st week back to school and set the tone for the year. Students really benefit from this reflective activity allowing them to share their true feelings (the good, the bad, and the ugly) about their course, their efforts, and the teacher.
