Learning how to read a clock and the parts of the clock

Created by
Nicole Tully
This notebook presentation simplifies the concept of learning basic parts of a clock and how to tell time. It compares the hour hand and the minute hand and uses pictures to make the presentation funny as well. It introduced the concept of the "danger zone," a concept I always use with my students. It teaches them that the danger zone (when the big minute hand is between the 9 and 0) typically leads kids to believe the time is an hour later than it is. For example, at 8:50, the hour hand is

Centers/Stations Template

This is a very handy organizer and visual to use when doing centers in your classroom. I got the idea from my mentoring teacher and brought it to my classroom last year. Since ELA is such a complex class and often concentrated to fit the 90 minute time frame, I break my centers up into 3 days. That allows the students to get more time in each center. I spend the last 30 minutes of class doing 2 rounds of 15 minutes, but you can set the timer as you please. I am known as "The Crazy Cat La
