Then the follow slides show examples of each. As a group, we discussed which type of writing was shown based on the already covered components (the answer is hidden at the top of each slide, click the solid box to reveal the answer). DREAM Writing Strategies Menu
A writing program based on The Daily CAFE program for reading (The 2 Sisters).
Just like in the Daily CAFE:
·The teacher introduces strategies through a mini-lesson and then posts the strategy on the student "menu" for reference.
·During writing time, the students select their focus area on the "menu".
This gives the students a purpose and accountability during writing time, and the teacher can confer with individual students or pull small focus groups.

Writer's Workshop Student Accountability
When working with students during Writer's Workshop, it can be hard to keep track of where they are at in the writing process. This SMART document allows students to move their name to the stage of writing process they are currently on. It helped me, as a teacher, to know which students needed a conference with me.
