Description

This notebook presentation simplifies the concept of learning basic parts of a clock and how to tell time. It compares the hour hand and the minute hand and uses pictures to make the presentation funny as well. It introduced the concept of the "danger zone," a concept I always use with my students. It teaches them that the danger zone (when the big minute hand is between the 9 and 0) typically leads kids to believe the time is an hour later than it is. For example, at 8:50, the hour hand is closer to the 9 so students believe it is 930 instead. It shows them that when the minute hand is in the danger zone, it is still not yet the next hour, just close to reaching it.
