Counting Coins Piggybank Smartboard Activity for K-2 by Louise Brehm
Interactive Smartboard activity that has students write a money amount inside a box. Then using infinitly cloned coins, students drag and drop the coins to the piggybank to match the written amount. Procedure could be reversed with student moving coins to the piggybank and another student writing the amount. Activity could be used as instruction, guided or independent practice. Teaching Coin Money Value with Hundreds Charts- Smart Board Component
I have found using a hundreds chart to teach coins seems to be the most successful way to help the children retain the monetary values in an active way. I use this method for the first five lessons when I introduce money.
