TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My name is John Kedrowski and I am a science and technology teacher in Superior, Wisconsin. I have a Minnesota Teaching License in Physics 9-12, Biology 7-12, General Science 5-9, and Earth and Space Science 7-12. I also have a Wisconsin Teaching License in Biology, Earth Science, Physics, and Chemistry grades 6-12. I have experience teaching in all of my license areas. I started teaching in 2001 in ISD 709 Duluth Public Schools and was granted tenure in 2005. In 2008, my family moved to Hawaii in order to broaden our experience in a unique multicultural society. In Hawaii, I have taught in the private school setting. These settings include rigorous college preparatory academies and schools for students with special education needs. My students have ranged from grades three through post secondary.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have also been trained in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in Science and Design. In this program, I have been a personal project and extended essay coach, a personal project coordinator, and a department chair. The International Baccalaureate is an International School organization that emphasizes philosophy, international mindedness, concept based learning, and character development. It’s curriculum uses skill based assessments of critical thinking through Project Based Learning. I have established and effective curriculum developed for physics based engineering, computer game design and programming, indoor garden botany, geological disaster mitigation, and the repurposing of broken electronics.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Also have experience in the administration of experiential education and martial arts opportunities for students at the schools in which I teach. I own and operate fully equipped programs that can offer international backpacking trips and local canoe trips. My martial arts program can promote students through black belt in karate and jujutsu. I have coordinated and administered trips in countries as far away as Ireland, Iceland and New Zealand and I have coordinated international gatherings of martial artists and senior instructors. I have successfully managed the startup of the Outdoor Education and Martial Arts programs because of my intense passion for these learning opportunities. This included negotiating the regulatory atmosphere, applying for insurance, arranging for professional development opportunities, and meeting professional accounting standards.
