Teach Characterization with Video Clips (Disney, Pixar, etc.)

This was designed for an 8th grade class, but could be used for grades 6th-12th, depending on the reading level of the students. Murder on the Orient Express is a great book, but might be too advanced (in terms of vocabulary) for some middle school students.

Hamlet: Act IV Anticipatory Guide

Prior to reading each act in Shakespeare's Hamlet, my students spend one class period working on decoding 8-10 of the most important pieces of the dialogue from the act. This anticipatory strategy creates a basic summary for the students as they prepare to read challenging verse.
