Fraction Recipe Book Project
This is an activity I used to reinforce fraction operations in my 6th grade math class. The students created a class recipe book by each bringing in three of their favorite recipes. They had to include a list of ingredients, as well as instructions for doubling, tripling, or halving the recipe. They had a lot of fun designing their book covers and pages, adding in cooking tips and kitchen advice, and assembling the class book. They each received a copy to take home- and many of them brought

100th Day Fruit Loop Necklace Sorting and Counting Mats
These mats were created especially for a 100th Day celebration! Students sort fruit loop cereal by color on the first mat. Students then transfer the fruit loops onto the second mat*, counting to 100, but in color-coded groups of 10. The fruit loops can then be strung onto a necklace** to wear and display their knowledge of 100 and counting by tens! Print the mats on cardstock and laminate to ensure durability. (Mine have lasted for years!)

Taste the Rainbow of Ratio and Proportion
Taste the Rainbow! In order to bring ratio and proportions to life I've used skittles to help my students grasp this concept. When I did this with my class I gave partners a bag of 50 assorted skittles. You may want to change that number for more advanced classes, so that when finding the proportions will be a little more difficult that 50. You can print this packet without the background and students can write on it. My students absolutely loved this and totally master ratio and proportions.
