TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching high school Spanish for 18 years. I am SUPER passionate about my craft and have had the GREAT privilege of having taught all levels of High School Spanish ...college prep/honors 1-4 and also college level AP. I have a 90 percent plus passing rate on the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam and take great pride in teaching these upper level courses. I have also served as the Instructional Leader for our World Language Department for the 10+ years. I am bilingual in Spanish and know/understand basic Portuguese, Italian, and French. I have been blessed to travel the world extensively throughout my lifetime, including a Maymester in England, Scotland, and Italy and living 1 month deep in the Andes Mountains of Peru.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Relationships and kids knowing you care are KEY to my teaching style! And I am HUGE on encouragement and coaching students to believe in themselves and have confidence that they CAN do this! I also love to tell stories! The more you relate to a child, the more they will want to learn. Also, after teaching so many years, I KNOW that grammar and usage of the language are both hugely important to a child's success now and in the future in high school and college/military, etc. Therefore, I make sure my students understand ALL the basics and the relevance of World Languages, so that they can be successful. My greatest love in the classroom, besides the students and subject, is to teach a topic and then have student centered activities that have students up moving around using what I've taught them in a play or similar project/student-centered activity. This is when YOU know they've learned and can use the language! Let's Conquer and Enjoy teaching Spanish together!!! :) Best Wishes for an awesome school year!
