Trigonometry Graph Project

Created by
Kara Root
This project involves graphing multiple trigonometry function on one set of axes. They have to graph a certain number of equations and have to use at least 3 different types out of the 6. For this they have the option to use sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cotanget, and cosecant. They also have to use multiple values that transform the parent function. We use a computer program (desmos) for the graphing. They need to find the features of each graph and write them out. The part that the stud

Students must create and graph ten different functions with transformations based on the following parent functions - linear, quadratic, absolute value. Restrictions on transformations are required. Students are then directed to color in each section to create a stained glass window effect. Rubric, directions, and student worksheets included.

This is a rubric for a student group project. Students are asked to make a poster about vectors. Students must write their own story using vectors, magnitude and direction, graph the result, draw a picture related to the story, and solve the other groups' problems. Students will present their problems and solutions to the class.

Precal Conic Project

Time to combine the mathematics world with the animal kingdom!! Fun and creative project to explore conic equations using Desmos.com! This comes complete with an intro page and rubric to give to your students so they can create their virtual pets and then share them with the class through google slides, prezi, or powerpoint!Students must use all four conic equations, and have to restrict the domain or range of two of those equations. They are allowed to use any other equations in their pets as w

Unit Circle Project (Rubric)

This is a great moment for all your creative minds to ger a chance to shine even if they might not be the strongest in a mathematics classroom. It is often so hard to get a chance to make opportunities for kids to be creative in upper level math that I love getting to offer this Unit Circle project as out unit assessment for trig.Included is the rubric and calculations sheet that I give to all students. They are given 2-3 weeks depending on the timeline to complete this project and turn it in wi

MHF4U Advanced Functions 12 Term Presentation

Math presentation is usually hard to do and the reasons are as following. Firstly, Math is hard to talk about. People who know Math generally just think it's a natural ability. Secondly, Math usually has one and only one answer. The later presenters can have such a big advantage. To conquer those, I have made two open book assignments this term. Student receive same questions but DIFFERENT PARAMETERS in those assignments. They need to present a 10 mins problem solving demo to the class. As they

Parametric Equation Application Project - Projectile Motion for PreCalculus

This project prompts students to show the application of parametric equations in projectile motion and use their creativity. Through this project, students see their equations in real-life scenarios and practice self-evaluation. What's included:Teacher tipsStudent instructionsGrading rubricFinished project example!

Roller Coaster Design - Transformations of Functions

I created this project for my IB Approaches and Analysis Course. This is also useful for Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus courses. All three courses heavily use transformations of functions and can apply the parent functions to this course. This 13 page document with calendar and table of contents took me at least 12 days to complete from beginning to end, but it was worth it for the students to engage in meaningful conversations.

This 10 question assessment will allow you to identify what your students do and do not know about sets, set notation, and set builder notation. Use this assessment as a quiz, a mini assessment, or a test to see if students can answer the essential question: What is a set and what is set builder notation? The assessment is broken down into 4 learning targets so you and your students can know the purpose of why the questions are being asked and what you as the teacher will be looking for when you

Sometimes kids in AP Calculus take longer to learn a concept and need a second chance. This extra credit opportunity provides a rubric for students to create their own Free-Response Question. Students learn better when they apply their knowledge (even if incomplete) to creating and solving their own problems. As they say, teaching is the best way to learn. Students find this extra credit opportunity enjoyable and challenging. Furthermore, it allows the teacher to use the student-generated FR

This project has students choose and fold a piece of origami. They will use the outline of the figure to create a polygon, triangulate the polygon, and use the Law of Sines and Cosines to find missing parts of triangles. Once triangles have been solved, students will find the area of each triangle (I teach Heron's area formula and Area=0.5(a)(b)sin(C) to streamline the process) to calculate the total area of their figure. Great for remote learning and asynchronous project assignment. Hyperli
