Main Idea Visual!
This visual teaches/shows the concept of main idea to students. The concept of main idea = the whole house. Students are told that the story is the whole house, so when you ask about main idea you are asking for the idea of the house, not the details (shown as different parts of the house). I made this chart to motivate my students and help them to better visualize what "graduating" from speech means! I've used this format for a couple years now and recently reprinted the speech bubbles on Astrobright card stock, which was a big hit! I used a Scotch Laminator for added durability, so this version should last me at least a few years! if you print on or glue to paper that might fade, I suggest trying to locate your chart away from any windows in your room if possible to help the pape
