This challenging project really pays dividends with your students. I have been assigning this project since 1996. Each time I have had great success. Your students will become very informed citizens in regards to elections in the United States. Watch as they debate issues with each other and their parents. Your students will be more knowledgeable about the candidates than a majority of the eligible voters. In addition, this project can easily be adapted to off-year elections.

Battleground States in the US Election Project
If you are interested in teaching about the election but want to avoid the extreme partisanship and discussion of the candidates themselves, this project is for you!
