A Homemade Version of the Game Balderdash

Created by
DeeDumTweedle
This is a "home cooked" version of Balderdash (the game where students take an obscure word--one person has the real definition while the others in the group have to "fake" their definitions). Complete directions come with this download as well as scoring/definition sheets and a "starter kit" of about 60 words (after that you can go to the OED or even a regular dictionary for more words). You can use this as a "just for fun" activity or it can be something more meaningful as you discuss how wo

I use this as a whole class review warmup, small group station (with students having more than one term card), and in other ways. The file is a word document so you can adapt the vocabulary and definitions to better fit your standardized test and

The Rancher rolls all three, Curley and Curley’s Wife roll two, and George, Candy, and Crooks roll one (players take turns in this order). The game leader may affect the player's rolls by modifying how many times they may roll (more for the rancher to get higher numbers, less for the lower characters). This simulates the effects of the outside world at play on individuals' opportunities.
