Practicing Body Part Vocabulary in Spanish: Draw the Alien!
This is a fun activity that can be done either as a reading or oral exercise to practice body part vocabulary and adjectives. Each student will read or hear the description of an alien in Spanish and draw it. This is a 7 page booklet that features two journal entries on each page. The first is a title page, so there are 12 writing prompts. Each page has several lines for a student response, as well as a box to draw a picture of the journal entries.
These half sheets are to be cut out and given to students one at a time. At the end of the month, just before break, I like to punch holes and bind the journals for students to keep as a momento.

My school has been focusing a lot on STEM and engineering design challenges and I wanted to have something to show the steps of the engineering process like I have for the scientific method. I couldn't find anything out there in Spanish for immersion teachers so I modified this one to fit my needs based on the Works hands-on museum in Minnesota where we have many field trips. I created Kinder-Metas in my classroom as a way to help my students see and manage their personal goals. Although it has changed from when I first implemented in my classroom, it has definitely been a great addition in my classroom.
I display the Goal Cards in my classroom, and as I assess the students throughout the school year they students color in their stars based on the goals they have reached. At the end of the school year students take their goal cards home with their goals reached.
