Puerto Rico: Unit with worksheets
- Google Slides™
Description
In this mini unit students will learn more than just the basic facts about Puerto Rico. Students will be more engaged in Spanish class by building both their cultural knowledge and Spanish vocabulary. Students will learn and discuss the concept of being "boricua" & "nuyorican" through video excerpts and a film (questions and activities included for both) & finally learn about a Puerto Rican movement by the "Young Lords".
6 student handouts (embedded within the slides) ensure that you can introduce the topics with relevant vocabulary, adjust content as needed for multiple levels of Spanish speakers. This will be a great mini unit for your higher level Spanish speakers; however, the topics could be modified with more translations in order to still engage your students in more interesting, relevant, students centered topics about Puerto Rico!
(Film is free on youtube!) **Also appropriate for Heritage and Native Speakers/
