Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
This is a visual quiz I developed for my Life Skills students about "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day." Students have to make a judgment about Alexander and to answer basic comprehension questions. Next, students are asked to reflect and think about a bad day they have had. Students are directed to make visual representations about details of their bad day.

I LOVE the book "The Napping House" by Audrey Wood!!! I read it with our preschoolers, act it out using props (a cot, blue scarf/bonnet for a student to be the grandmother, a baby doll for the child and stuffed animals~ the kids love it!!!) then we do a book retelling extension activity in small groups to send home!I've put the retelling booklet on-line for you to use. "All Summer in a Day" Rewritten for Struggling Readers
This classic short story by Ray Bradbury is often taught to middle school students. I have rewritten it here for students reading at a third grade level so that struggling readers can comprehend it. I have preserved similes and metaphors, for the most part, to help struggling readers work on untangling those for both denotative and connotative meaning.

Who What Where When Listening For Details
I got the idea for these from another TPT user, however I have fine-tuned them quite a bit.
I currently have students on the autism spectrum that are unable to distinguish/answer simple WH questions. So I use these not only for IEP data but as practice and learning tools.
I read the sentence to the student, have them read them back, and then ask the following WH questions. I always write their immediate responses with no prompting. Then after each question is answered we go back and use color
