Unit Circle Project (Rubric)

This is a great moment for all your creative minds to ger a chance to shine even if they might not be the strongest in a mathematics classroom. It is often so hard to get a chance to make opportunities for kids to be creative in upper level math that I love getting to offer this Unit Circle project as out unit assessment for trig.Included is the rubric and calculations sheet that I give to all students. This 10 question assessment will allow you to identify what your students do and do not know about sets, set notation, and set builder notation. This project has students choose and fold a piece of origami. They will use the outline of the figure to create a polygon, triangulate the polygon, and use the Law of Sines and Cosines to find missing parts of triangles. Once triangles have been solved, students will find the area of each triangle (I teach Heron's area formula and Area=0.5(a)(b)sin(C) to streamline the process) to calculate the total area of their figure. Great for remote learning and asynchronous project assignment. Hyperli
