TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I’ve been teaching for 14 years and across 4 different continents. I’ve taught different curricula, the Ontario (Canada) curriculum (French & English), the American NGSS and AP curriculum as well as the IB MYP science and DP Biology curriculum. Every new school, country and curriculum has made me rethink the way I teach and learn to be more adaptive. I love making resources that cross over cultures, different curricula and resonate with the kids.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I’m a bit of a mixing pot when it comes to teaching style. I like to use EAL, Flipped Classroom, Inquiry-based, Technology Integration & French Immersion, keeping things fresh and exciting (at least I think so) for my students. The geek in me also loves doing labs whenever I can.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My proudest moment as a teacher would have to be while teaching the IB DP Biology in Caracas, Venezuela during the 2018/2019 school year. Despite political unrest, a 10 day blackout, a lack of water, internet and electricity I was able to help my Grade 12 students get through that very rigorous course and take the DP Biology exam. We worked as a team and made it our mission to get them ready despite all the obstacles in our path. I will always remember those students and that particularly challenging school year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

University of New Brunswick: BSc- Biology, BA- French Linguistics Queen’s University: BEd- Intermediate/Senior Science and French York University: MES - Environmental Education COETAIL - Certificate of Educational Technology & Information Literacy Seton Hall University - EAL in the Mainstream Classroom Teacher Certification

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I’m an army brat so living an international life is where I am most comfortable. I have taught science in Canada, China, Venezuela & am currently in Morocco. I look forward to exploring more of the world and teaching students from all kinds of different cultures, developing new resources to share along the way.
